Although it is not the most populous borough (that’d be Brooklyn), Queens nevertheless is the most massive with an area of 109 square miles (283 km2). The sheer enormity of the borough also means its neighborhoods assume airs that are otherwise the preserve of townships. One such township, Ozone Park of southwestern Queens, is a world unto its own and is also the site of the DKNY Fall / Winter 2016 advertising campaign starring amongst others Selena Forrest. Since their 2015 appointment as creative directors, Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne have held firm the brand’s commitment to New York and the latest campaign for autumn by photographer Colin Dodgson and art director Christopher Simmonds is no exception. Shot in the residential enclave along 107 Avenue, the campaign is everything implied in the message emblazoned across sweatshirts in the DKNY runway show back in February. That message then, Don’t Knock New York, is especially true today and in a campaign fronted by model-of-the-moment Selena Forrest. Don’t knock New York, don’t even think about it.
