The casting for the Giuseppe Zanotti Design Fall 2016 advertising campaign photographed by Mario Sorrenti is spot on. The campaign includes Grace Hartzel and Josh Beech, who reportedly are meant to portray two rock stars backstage at a concert. Both stars have connections to music, but neither of these biographical details is necessary to apprehend the distinctively rockerly air about Grace and Josh. Those who know, however will derive acute satisfaction seeing them in the intimate and conceptually gritty backstage created by set designer Philipp Haemmerle. Grace for her part is practically an auxiliary member to Parisian outfit La Femme, whereas has Josh is a singer-songwriter from Southeast London. “I wanted the campaign to feel a bit voyeuristic,” said the brand’s founder and creative director Giuseppe Zanotti speaking with WWD. “Like you’re backstage with the band, seeing what goes on away from the glare of the public eye.” Proper casting that, encore!
