Pivotal moments are essential to any compelling story, the same is especially true in life, where they can mean the difference between surviving and perishing. There is a story running in the September 2016 issue of ELLE that looks at nine rising talents including Selena Forrest who are experiencing their own breakout moments. “She’s a natural beauty with a very modern quality,” Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez say about Selena speaking to ELLE. “She can be both slightly masculine and feminine. She’s our favorite girl out there.” Generous as those words sound, they are supported by a sustained commitment to Selena who stars in their current and former advertising campaigns. For her part, Selena continues to set alight the wider fashion world circling the globe to walk in runway shows for Louis Vuitton and Chanel, but at the same time looks even further ahead. “In the next five years, I expect to start a foundation for teens dealing with family drug and alcohol addiction,” she says. “I want to talk to teenagers who are going through a lot at home, people who need outside support.” Pivotal as this moment is, it surely will not be the last in this ambitious life of Selena’s.
