NEW YORK — Twin Peaks fanatics who have kept faith over the better part of a quarter century for an eventual return of the cult TV series by director David Lynch are set to be rewarded in 2017 when it comes back on Showtime. Those assembled Thursday afternoon at Masonic Hall at 71 West 23 Street for the Creatures of the Wind Spring 2017 runway show were treated to something more immediate, namely a live vocal performance by legendary Julee Cruise, the enchanting voice behind the smash single “Falling.” Designers Shane Gabier and Christopher Peters reportedly drew inspiration from Cruise for their collection, which made her surprise appearance something of a coup. The welcome surprise of Cruise’s voice made the runway show mesmeric and one which Maria Clara ultimately closed with her second look. Jay Wright, Klementyna Dmowska, Estella Brons, Lili Sumner, Liza Ostanina, Lida Fox, and Tessa Bruinsma also featured on the runway. Thus begins the first day of 27 this season, which all things being equal was neither inauspicious or for that matter remotely Lynchian.
