NEW YORK — Listen carefully as our menu options have changed…we have all heard the bodiless voice intone that sequence of words on countless occasions whilst holding the telephone line for those products and services that are not yet solely app based. Monday afternoon in Chelsea did not so much register a menu change as it did a significant calendar change for Fashion Week in New York, namely, Proenza Schouler’s move to a daytime slot after holding down Wednesday evenings for seasons. The move meant plenty of daylight at Dia:Chelsea on West 22 Street as well as an expansion in the range in colors used by Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. Bold primary colors, compact knits, signature pleats, and technical flourishes that would have even the most cerebral aesthetes geeking out were all on offer. On the afternoon seven girls at Next including Selena Forrest, Lorena Maraschi, Grace Hartzel, Binx, Lineisy Montero, Jay Wright, and Marjan Jonkman featured in the runway show. Selena was especially thrilled to be marking her one year anniversary since making her debut for the label as a 16-year-old. “Crazy, right?” Indeed it is, Selena, crazy good like this daytime slot has proven to be.
