MILAN — For a third season running Donatella Versace opted for the arena over the casa to stage her women’s ready-to-wear runway show and was duly rewarded for it. That MiCo Milano Congressi has a facility-wide capacity of over 20 thousand hints at the scale at which the house sees itself in relation to the world. And they are not wrong! They certainly were correct early Friday evening when a strong casting featuring five models from across the Next network including Marjan Jonkman, Impy, Grace Hartzel, Olivia Jansing, and Katlin Aas took to the runway with its acute angles making penetrative V patterns. The controlling theme of the collection was women’s freedom in all its forms, such as “the freedom of movement, freedom of activity, freedom to fight for their ideas, freedom to be whomever [they] want to be.” Freedom comes at a high price and an even higher price point for luxury the likes of which Versace is a byword.
