MILAN — The final day of Next’s ready-to-wear coverage in Italy’s fashion capital began at the Marni Spring / Summer 2017 runway show, which was closed by none other than Ava Dahlem. The Berlin beauty assumed closing honors from last season’s Julie Hoomans, who also featured in Sunday’s program along with Jay Wright, Selena Forrest, Wangy, and Lineisy Montero. Marni holds a special place in the hearts of those who walk its shows as having clothes actually liked by models. Curious as that sounds, it speaks volumes about creative designer Consuelo Castiglioni’s ability to create garments that are both practical and stylish. Models will wear clothes regardless of how well they are constructed, fit, or altogether move, it’s after all their job. That they also like them is not anything that can be manufactured. All told, Marni began what was a rousing coda to a smashing week in Milan.
