PARIS — What is high fashion in the 21st century but a business in which a handful of mega luxury brands vie for global domination? Louis Vuitton is just one of these elite competitors and as with every season the final move on the chess board fell to it on the last day of the Spring / Summer 2017 women’s ready-to-wear calendar. Nicolas Ghesquière on the morning had the run of the brand’s future flagship at Place Vendôme set to open in 2017. Invited guests were seated along a catwalk spanning two building levels, which allowed for ample window shopping during the nearly 10-minute run of show. Seated guests saw everything from a statement boot to a statement Petite Malle phone case and in a salon type setting, which permitted the sort of client-consumer intimacy that is like petrol on an open flame. Nearly everyone after all wants even a little something Louis Vuitton. Walking for Next in the runway show were five models including Selena Forrest, Lea Issarni, Daphne Simons, Julie Hoomans, and Tamy Glauser. As closing moves go, Ghesquière’s looks a checkmate for the season. This show was the 43rd and final show of the #NextSpring2017 coverage. Watch this space for the resumption of coverage in New York in February 2017.
