It is not often the ready-to-wear season serves up a collection that its designer names after a large marine mammal with flippers and tusks, but late last month in Paris that is precisely what Rick Owens did for his women’s Spring / Summer 2017 runway show. The California native since turning a half century a couple years ago has taken turn toward the romantic with his namesake label after more than two decades of otherwise severity, albeit of the most exquisite variety. The resultant shift has made for clothing that positively courses with life. The Fall 2016 issue of i-D dives into his collection for autumn in a story photographed by Mario Sorrenti featuring none other than Binx. “Brave New World,” as the Alastair McKimm-styled story is called, revels in the world of Rick Owens, one which is a sight to truly behold.
