In a week like this has been, the circumscribed worlds of Wes Anderson perhaps deserve a second, more sympathetic look. A dozen years ago this month Bill Murray headed up an intrepid band of oceanographers in a revenge pursuit of a fabled jaguar shark in the feature film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004). Although this hermetic world with all its cutesy trappings would simply crumble under the crushing weight of today, it nevertheless continues to send ripples out into the pond of real life. The weekly cover story of the latest WWD is case in point with its very own riff on “The Life Aquatic” in a spring (yes) preview of collections with maritime references. Elensio Makharashvili stars in this cover story by photographer Ed Singleton and stylist Mayte Allende. The Georgian beauty is pictured on the cover wearing a Lycra body suit and an alter suede pant by Stella McCartney. Although no jaguar sharks were harmed in this cover shoot, Elensio nevertheless is likely to quicken the pulse with her alluring looks.
