The Earth was formed over four billion years ago and along with Mercury, Mars, and Venus comprise our solar system’s terrestrial planets. What distinguishes our planet from the others orbiting around the sun is its rocky composition, which gives us geological formations including everything from Iceland’s infamous volcano Eyjafjallajökull to America’s beloved Grand Canyon. Included amongst the planets myriad landforms are badlands, those arid regions brought about through millions of years of deposition and eventual erosion. This coming Sunday’s issue of T Magazine for 13 November 2016 ventures to Bardenas Reales, Spain’s very own badlands, for its cover story by photographer Karim Sadli starring none other than Selena Forrest. Games of Thrones viewers will no doubt recognize the location as it features in the sixth season of the wildly popular, if not gruesome HBO series. Inhospitable as this uncharacteristically Spanish region is, it provides a sweeping backdrop for this story resort fashion story. With agriculture being out of the question for Bardenas Reales, leave it to Selena and company to make it all the more fecund.
