To say these times are uncertain would be to make a gross understatement. If the alarms being sounded to are to be believed, then we had all best be prepared for when trend forecasts resemble stylist fantasies of the 82nd Airborne Division — brutal, uncompromising, and heavy on the olive greens and gunmetal greys. Hypotheticals aside, exactly what would the Army’s airborne infantry look like in the hands of, say, i-D? To get a glimpse of such a fantastical scenario, pick up the Winter 2016 issue of i-D for a brief, but potent story featuring a quartet of models from across the Next network including Wangy Xinyu (pictured), Odette Pavlova, Selena Forrest, and Olivia Jansing. Photographed by Jackie Nickerson and styled by Carlos Nazario, looks at the latest in bombers, trenches, and miles of canvas strapping. The story is perhaps best captured in Wangy’s closing look, a menswear coat by Diesel Black Gold, turtleneck and shirt by Céline, and trousers by Martine Rose. There is real poise in Wangy’s coiled body, which at any moment could result a furious boot stamping a human face — forever.
