MILAN — On a day when the White House barred reporters from the The New York Times, CNN, and Politico from attending a press briefing by the president’s press secretary, Donatella Versace’s message of unity and equality voiced through her Versace Fall / Winter 2017 womenswear collection could not have been resounding. Resistance has taken various forms throughout this ready-to-wear season and early Friday evening in Italy’s fashion capital it found shape in an idiom wholly Versace. Courage, love, unified, loyal, were but some of the entries in Donatella’s lexicon stitched, embroidered, and otherwise embellished in this supremely sexy, very Versace collection for fall. Eight models across the Next network including Anja Rubik, Binx, Myrthe Bolt, Grace Elizabeth, Selena Forrest, Marjan Jonkman, Aiden Curtiss, and Lineisy Montero took to the runway in what was manifestation of beauty, power, and, yes, resistance.
