MILAN — The color pink has them shook. Angela Missoni was unequivocal Saturday afternoon at the Missoni Fall / Winter 2017 runway show in voicing her support for the rights of women and all minorities. The statement was made in an emphatic gesture during the runway finale when models wore pink pussy hats along with seated audience members, all of whom had the specially knitted hats popularized in the 2017 Women’s March last month in Washington D.C. and around the world. Patti Smith’s 1988 anthem “People Have the Power” was belted out over the runway, which became a sea of buoyant pink caps as Angela Missoni made her way to the its center to issue a statement on behalf of the Missoni family. “In a time of uncertainty, there is a bond between us that can keep us strong and safe: the bond that unites those that respect the human rights of all…let’s show the world that the fashion community is united and fearless.” Dissent takes many forms and Saturday afternoon it took shape in a most Missoni way. On the afternoon from across the Next network Lorena Maraschi, Julie Hoomans, Lineisy Montero, Marjan Jonkman, and Estella Brons featured on the runway.
