PARIS — Never mind the drizzly skies on a cold, wet Saturday morning in the Trocadero, the Haider Ackermann runway show provided plenty of warmth for even the inkiest of black souls ghosting about Paris Fashion Week. The beloved designer did not disappoint. Dior is not the only maison in town going blue this week. In fact, Haider Ackermann staged his Fall / Winter 2017 runway show on a sky blue catwalk. If Cathy Horyn was mystified over Maria Grazia Chiuri’s preference for blue, then the role of Ackermann’s runway as a foil to a collection drawn from a palette of mostly black with the odd golden flourish was immediately apparent. This collection, realized in black leather and through sharp tailoring, made for a no-nonsense silhouette as worn by seven models from across the Next global network including Lia Pavlova, Lea Issarni, Meghan Collison, Melissa Tammerijn, Katlin Aas, Carolina Thaler, and Estella Brons featured. This was Haider Ackermann at his finest, rain, wild wind, or otherwise.
