PARIS — In the high fashion era of mega luxury conglomeration and the ravenous pursuit of buy-yesterday absurdity, genuine artistry allied to a fiercely independent worldview, not to mention business model, is as rare as it is refreshing. Late Monday morning inside the Grand Palais reinvigoration came by way of the Sacai Fall / Winter 2017 runway show. Founded in 1998, Abe is the sole owner of her label, which over the years she has built into a prestigious and independent player on the global stage of fashion. Her collection for Fall 2017 as ever read like an artful remix of classical outerwear and evening wear. Houndstooth coats, nylon bombers with floral embroidery, flannel dresses, all found their way into this collection to make this season’s outing Sacai through and through. On the morning, eight models at Next including Manuela Miloqui, Nandy Nicodeme, Maria Clara, Tessa Bruinsma, Moira Berntz, Selena Forrest, Binx, and Lea Issarni featured on the winding runway replete with reflective cube seating. Although this was not a buy-now affair, finding eager customers when the collection comes to market surely will not be a tall order.
