The drive to buy-yesterday in high fashion is relentless. Runways have been remade in this image so that what is witnessed swiping down the catwalk is immediately purchasable. Magazines are neither immune from this retail creep, but at least in the March 2017 Vogue Italia cover story by Steven Meisel something else is at play. Titled “Buy, Bye,” the cover story styled by Karl Templer is presented in the idiom of online shopping, but rendered on the static page the story is robbed of its actionability. Click all you like, but the looks will not jump into any shopping cart like they might if viewed through Google Chrome or Safari. Aiden Curtiss (pictured) enters the story wearing Rick Owens for which three different perspectives are shown. Fantasy has left the page and all that are left are the model and the clothes. Truth be told, this future is now and in the hands of Steven Meisel and Karl Templer it is enormously palatable. If only the same were true of the rest of high fashion.  Hiandra Martinez, Jay Wright, and Odette Pavlova also feature in this story.
