Situated off England’s North East Kent Coast, the Isle of Sheppey is the home to the northernmost location to have an established scorpion population. Fact! The highly adaptable arthropods (Euscorpius flavicaudis) are believed to have arrived by ship in the 1860s and thankfully for locals pose little to no threat, mildly venomous critters that they are. This of course is good news for any producers looking to shoot a fashion editorial on the windswept beaches, which is just what the good people at Harper’s Bazaar UK have done for the July 2017 issue. Enter Katlin Aas, who opens proceedings for this story by photographer Agata Pospieszynska with what looks like a subscriber cover. On the cover, Katlin is pictured wearing Saint Laurent. The corresponding story celebrates this season’s offerings in cashmere and silk, which make for an especially sumptuous occasion. The local scorpions might be harmless, but that does not prevent Katlin from straight killing it.
