Ice melts. Oceans rise. Both are inescapable facts of climate change and as we go deeper into the 21st century, both will leave their mark on the planet. The Maldives, site of the July 2017 cover shoot for Harper’s Bazaar Russia featuring none other than Laura Julie, is not immune to rising ocean levels. In fact, 80% of the tiny island nation is one meter or less above sea level. Thankfully for the sake of Laura Julie’s latest cover, the sanctity of the beachfront of the Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru is well and truly preserved. For now at least the ocean is held back just enough for photographer Agata Pospieszyńska and fashion editor Sveta Vashenyak to capture the Danish beauty bounding across beach wearing a dress by Hermès.
