NEW YORK — Marta Płaczek knows her way around the runway. She made her start during the couture season a few years ago walking for Dior and then Chanel. She in fact never lost her taste for shows. “I remember all castings, I remember all fittings, all waiting in the rooms, I remember everything from all shows.” That is no mean feat given the long hours involved for every single show, but it underlines the passion Marta has for her craft. Marta later would walk back to back seasons for Prada and Miu Miu. These days Marta is busy modeling in New York, which is a city she loves. The only place on earth for Marta that is better, however it Tokyo. Marta admits she could be based in the Japanese capital, which is a far cry from her home in the north of Poland in the town of Wyrzysk (don’t try to pronounce it), population 5,234 (2006). Not that Marta has plans to move any time soon…she’s committed to New York and all that it brings her.
