PARIS — Later Monday afternoon at the Grand Palais, Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo treated all those fortunate to have been invited to a memorable runway show for their Ralph & Russo Fall / Winter 2017-2018 Haute Couture collection. They design duo took inspiration from the subjects of grand masters Richard Avedon, Cecil Beaton, and Norman Parkinson, in other words, natural beauties capable of bringing any great ballroom to a standstill. To that end, the designers were served in kind by a most capable cast, which included show opener Blanca Padilla as well as Arizona Muse, Daniela Braga, Carolina Thaler, and Odette Pavlova. Crystallized embroidery that figured throughout the collection is nod to contemporary photography and the kinship it has with couture, namely, in the words of the house, its “unique ability to emulate an individual’s personality and soul.” What goals! Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo look well placed to achieve said goals and how.
