Were it not for the Earth’s molten core, there would be no tectonic activity, thus no carbon cycle, which ultimately means no life. In other words, thanks be to the local volcano for all that it has done in the last several million years because without it and its forebears, then there would also be no Vogue Arabia story set in Spain’s Fuerteventura running in the July / August 2017 issue starring Caitie Greene. Located in the Canary Island archipelago off the northwest coast of Africa, Fuerteventura is the oldest of the islands, which is believed to have been formed by volcanic activity 20 million years ago. As recent as 2009 Unesco established the Fuerteventura Biosphere Reserve, which provides a breathtaking setting for this story by photographer Łukasz Pukowiec and stylist Ana Campos titled “Mermaid’s Chant.” Caitie for her part sounds a most alluring siren song, which is sure to enchant and bewitch even the most seasoned sailors.
