For all the handwringing over last month’s New York Fashion Week, it cannot be said that this city does not support new and emerging talent. The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has long advocated for designers on this side of the Atlantic and in 2003 launched the CFDA / Vogue Fashion Fund. Since its founding, the fund has granted over $5 million to more than 30 fashion companies including the likes of Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, and Altuzarra. Finalists for the 2017 CFDA / Vogue Fashion Fund are fêted in the November 2017 issue of Vogue in a feature by photographer Gregory Harris. Grace Hartzel makes a cameo appearance in this story alongside designer and finalist Victor Glemaud. The dress Grace wears derives from a knit sweater, replete with cutouts and graphic embellishments. Speaking with Vogue, the designer describes his namesake label using three words, “Charming, groovy, and vibrant.” Worn by Grace, those words ring especially true.
