With sneakers come history. For Nike Air Force 1, that is 35 years of history to be exact. To celebrate this milestone Nike has collaborated with a number of artists from Virgil Abloh to Next’s own Travis Scott. “There is no other shoe that connects to sport, music, fashion, art, the street and the city all at the same time,” said Nike sportswear senior creative director and lead designer Al Baik speaking to WWD. “The most ubiquitous Air Force 1 is the white-white. For the 35th anniversary, we selected collaborators who are impacting future generations across culture. Their brief was filtered through the white-white lens.” A day ago Travis posted to Instagram a shot of himself wearing a pair of AF1 sneakers. Not unlike much of Travis’s posts, the response was enthusiastic, to put it mildly. Travis’s particular interpretation of the classic sneaker reportedly includes a Velcro swoosh and removable patches and will be available starting 2 December 2017.
