Never mind the weather…there are stronger forces at work in this year not yet four days old. Anok Yai signed with Next at the end of October of last year and a mere 65 days later has touched down in her first advertising campaign, a major one at that. Prada today unveiled its Spring / Summer 2018 by photographer Willy Vanderperre and force of nature Anok Yai is in it. Her whirlwind career began when a photo of her attending homecoming weekend at Howard University in Washington D.C. went viral and days later she inked a contract with Next. Going viral is all well and good, but all too often that represents the high water mark for a subject in the voracious media landscape. Anok, however is no flash in the pan as evidenced in her auspicious entrance in the world of high fashion by way of Prada. This bold statement is only the beginning, the forecast calls for significant levels of Anok Yai in 2018.
