PARIS — Anyone looking for daywear can immediately head for the exits, this is Elie Saab. Truthfully, anyone with a pulse within the 105 square kilometers of this city would have no such expectations, Elie Saab pretty much does what it says on the tin, exude elegance! At Elie Saab the 1920s never really died, it simply kept roaring, albeit in a different register. This Haute Couture collection for Spring 2018 is for today’s liberated Parisienne. Could that be the one who also wears Chuck Taylor sneakers and uses a smartphone like an octogenarian uses a walking stick? Possibly, but there was no evidence of such contemporary frippery, this collection was everything Couture is meant to be, breathtaking, beautiful, and above all, beyond. Soft, airy silk, tulle, satin, embroidered with the finest jewels, to create silhouettes than celebrated and accentuated the woman’s form. On the afternoon, seven models from across the Next global network including Myrthe Bolt, Katlin Aas, Blanca Padilla, Lucia Lopez, Aiden Curtiss, Estella Brons, and Wangy featured on the runway.
