NEW YORK — Stuart Vevers conjured something darker, sinister even with his Coach 1941 Fall 2018 collection Tuesday afternoon at Pier 36 on the East River. Set designer Stefan Beckman outfitted the runway with a forest of denuded trees that called to mind the cult favorite and runaway box office smash The Blair Witch Project (1999). In that film, three friends go missing in the Black Hills of Maryland, where they hike to shoot a documentary. Eventually their doomed tale is retold through recovered footage. The power of this film resides in what is not revealed and is left to the imagination. The opposite is true for Coach, which is in the business of selling clothing and accessories. Vevers is a genuine talent who has a knack for designing just about everything that a customer could want. Coy he is not, thankfully. Walking on the afternoon were a total of nine models from across the Next global network including Eli Epperson, Selena Forrest, Manu Miloqui, Nandy Nicodème, Aube Jolicoeur, Binx, Shujing Zhou, Callum Stoddart, and Wangy.
