LONDON — Late Saturday afternoon Christopher Bailey bowed out showing his final collection for Burberry capping off a staggering 17-year tenure at the British luxury fashion house. Following the creative director merry-go-round of recent years that is a sum almost unthinkable. A couple hours earlier and five miles to the east over in Soho, American designer Michael Halpern was readying to show what was only his second collection. Halpern wasn’t yet a teenager back in 2002 when Bailey began at Burberry, not that he would likely care a jot, which is to say the future is there for the taking. Took he did, Halpern’s Fall / Winter 2018 collection was precisely the collection London Fashion Week, let alone this ready-to-wear season needed. Youthful vigor, dazzling glamour for the sheer sake of it, this collection had it all and in glimmering sequined glory. Leading the charge on Saturday was none other than Aube Jolicoeur, who duly opened the show. Following her on the runway were Massima, Nandy Nicodème, Nastya Zakharova, and Lili Sumner.
