LONDON — The importance of water this century will only increase as the planet warms, sea levels rise, and access to fresh water becomes more fraught. No wonder then should water be on the minds of designers Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi for their latest women’s collection for Preen. The pair reportedly visited the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich last summer and were struck by Haenyeo: Women of the Sea, an exhibition about the fascinating female divers of Jeju, South Korea. The deep dive into this watery world where women did all the work and men raised the children would prove most rewarding, not least for its manifestation above sea level Sunday morning on the runway for the Preen by Thornton Bregazzi Fall / Winter 2018 collection. Wet suits, coral embellishments, fishnets, and more could be seen throughout this collection, worn by a lineup that included a half dozen models from across the Next global network including Wangy, Nandy Nicodème, Manu Miloqui, Estella Brons, Nastya Cherkasova, and Liza Ostanina.
