MILAN — Hybridity is an emerging theme for the season. To be fair, as themes go it is immensely pliant and can accommodate disparity in all shapes and sizes. Late Saturday afternoon, hybrids emerged all patched up on a hosed down catwalk for the Missoni Fall / Winter 2018 runway show. Leading from the front was none other than show opener Hiandra Martinez, who wore a floor-length cardigan pieced whole from vintage swatches pulled from the family archives by Angela Missoni. This look very much set the tone for the collection featuring colorful knits and patches, variegated in a wide spectrum of earthy tones. A mostly reggae score drove home the idea that despite celebrating the label’s 65th anniversary, Missoni is very much chill. Also included in the lineup were a further half dozen models from across the Next global network including Oumie Jammeh, Callum Stoddart, Rocio Marconi, Piero Méndez, Aube Jolicoeur, and Grace Elizabeth.
