PARIS — Anthony Vaccarello once again took up the opening day double bill’s second act with his Saint Laurent Winter 2018 collection, which it must be said brought down the house through a dazzling display of light and darkness. Invitations returned guests to Place de Varsovie, site of last season’s open air runway, mercifully it was an enclosed catwalk, given the unseasonably frigid temperatures gripping the French capital. The temporary structure, purposely erected by Bureau Betak for the occasion, was no mere shelter against the Arctic blast, but rather an unmissable beacon of pulsating white lights and spewing geysers of steam, the likes of which were only rivaled by the Eiffel Tower in the distance. This projection of strength into the night by this heavyweight luxury brand was met in kind on the runway by collection for winter that weaponized acute angles and the color black. Where there is Saint Laurent, there is danger, there is beauty, neither from which can the eyes possibly turn away. On the night 11 models from across the Next global network featured on the runway including Hiandra Martinez, Selena Forrest, Jamie Bochert, Binx Walton, Erin Mommsen, Noé Martin, Nicolas Boeuf, Maria Miguel, Moira Berntz, Eniola Abioro, and Aube Jolicoeur. Sitting front row were Levi Dylan, Sofia Sanchez de Betak, Anja Rubik, Anna Brewster, and Camille Charrière.
