PARIS — There is no better day to restore clarity than a Monday. That much was the case the morning on the day after Sunday when Chitose Abe ramped up action in a multistorey car park for her Sacai Fall / Winter 2018 runway show. The Japanese creative director is an undisputed master. Her pattern making abilities were honed at Comme des Garçons, but it is through her Sacai label where she has all but weaponized the techniques of splicing patterns, materials, and just about anything that crosses her shears. The elegance of her garments, not to mention elan, often belies the dizzying complexity of layers and patterns buzzing right at the surface. Under the magisterial hand of stylist Karl Templer, this collection well and truly comes together in a manner that would otherwise be impossible. On the morning, a half dozen models at Next featured in a lineup that included Manu Miloqui, Nina Gulien, Maria Clara, Nandy Nicodème, Selena Forrest, and Binx.
