Despite the prevalence of cautionary tales about vaping, the practice is nevertheless widespread. So much so in fact even the April 2018 issue of Vogue has devoted more than 1500 words to the topic in a beauty feature by photographer Gregory Harris with none other than Grace Hartzel. Readers are advised that Grace does not in fact vape nor for that matter does she smoke tobacco. The jury is largely out on the benefits of vaping, but there is near universal agreement inhaling vapors from these devices is less unhealthy than smoking cigarettes. Given the fact that cigarettes are responsible for 480,000 deaths in the United States every year, just about any activity that does not involve tobacco is likely to be healthier. That said, the practice is not going away any time soon, certainly not amongst the high fashion set who run in circles with Vogue editors.
