Do you remember the time? Nearly a decade has passed since Michael Jackson’s death, which was ultimately ruled a homicide by the Los Angeles County Coroner. A life cut short to be sure, but by no means was it not lived to its maximum, most eccentric, and downright weird. The King of Pop is fêted in the pages of the May 2018 issue of Numéro Tokyo, which has been published with a limited cover by photographer Thomas Whiteside featuring Jane Moseley and her IRL boyfriend Dylan Marcus Corbett. Introducing a much needed dose of levity, Jane and Dylan are meant to play Michael and his chimpanzee Bubbles respectively. In 1988 artist Jeff Koons rendered this pair in a life-size porcelain sculpture, but 30 years later there is nothing banal about the cover or for that matter the corresponding story “Remember the Time.” Inside the issue, Jane revels is the weirdness as is her wont, but look closer and this American artist looks every bit the high fashion model that she also is. It just seemed like heaven so why did it end?
