The United States of America celebrated 243 years of independence last week and as the potassium nitrate dissipates a new issue of Vogue Italia for July 2018 comes into focus. For many Italians America might as well be New York. No other city in the Union quite captures the imagination like Gotham does, which helps explain its prominence throughout literature and film. New York serves as a point of departure for this story by photographer Harley Weir, which opens with Binx and includes a cameo by Massima Desire. “Goodbye, New York,” as the Emilie Kareh-styled story is called, is a meditation on the autumn collections viewed through the lens of the five boroughs. Binx (pictured) accordingly begins the story wearing shearling coat from the Fall 2018 women’s Calvin Klein 205W39NYC collection. There is the requisite amount of dirt and graffiti to make this a New York story, but only just. At no point does it pander or traffic in cliche, this after all is a story built around Binx Walton. Goodbye, New York, many happy returns.
