Whatever can be said about the current and possibly moribund state of print media, the magazine cover still has its place. Put another way, a magazine cover is not unlike a scoring a goal in a World Cup or at least a World Cup qualifier or a friendly (for magazines of more modest standing). Covers in fact matter! Jane Moseley knows her way around a magazine cover having featured on a fair few throughout her modeling career. Who can forget the Numéro Tokyo cover with Jane’s boyfriend in a gorilla costume? Slightly off kilter, thoroughly artistic, Jane projects into the world an image unlike any other. Her latest magazine cover for the July / August 2018 issue of Manifesto extends that very sensibility she has so carefully cultivated. Photographed by Hedvig Jenning and styled by Sam Ranger, the cover pictures Jane wearing a wool oversized blanket top and jersey hooded top by Céline from Phoebe Philo’s Pre-Fall 2018 collection. Juergen Teller photographed that collection’s lookbook in a studio with the help of Karolin Wolter and Binx, but this cover is staged in the open air much like the rest of the cover story. Magazines are a good value and so too is Jane Moseley.
