Says here 2017 was the hottest year on record. Greenhouse gases are at an all-time high, surface temperatures are peaking, as are sea temperatures. Climate change is now and when it is not causing absolute peril for seasonality in fashion, it is making summer an especially sultry affair. The latest Stella McCartney Swimwear advertising campaign very much feels the heat and then brings its own by way of Next’s Callie Dixon. The campaign by photographer Stevie Dance broke late last month and has been lauded for its casting by users in the often fickle Instagram comments section. Callie herself has been vocal on her own Instagram. “I’m so thankful and grateful to have a team behind me that supports me the way that I am and want to be,” said Callie in a post last month. “I think it is important to represent all women and to celebrate the body. Here’s to being you!” Thing is, this campaign requires no qualification whatsoever, Callie is fire and Stella McCartney has not missed a trick in casting this knock-out.
