NEW YORK — Those eager to glimpse firsthand the work of stylist Jacob K typically have to do so over in Italy, where he has long plied his trade for the House of Versace. Midday Sunday provided a rare opportunity for invited guests this side of the Atlantic to appreciate the Dane’s styling nous just as they did for the Escada Spring / Summer 2019 runway show. Launched in München in 1978 by Margaretha and Wolfgang Ley, the label under new ownership since 2009 has emerged with renewed vigor in celebration of its 40th anniversary. Considerable resources were marshaled for the occasion, not least of which involved a colorful staging at the Park Avenue Armory by famed set designer Stefan Beckman. Add to the creative mix Guido and Pat McGrath, and this collection was a spectacle not to be missed. Colorful, bold, Niall Sloan’s collection for spring was a paean to the power women of the late 1980s and early 1990s. A strong cast that counted seven models from across the Next global network including Maria Miguel, Cara Taylor, Selena Forrest, Oumie Jammeh, Hiandra Martinez, Lineisy Montero, and Grace Elizabeth also ensured maximum exposure.
