NEW YORK — There was no Fury Road on offer Wednesday morning at South Street Seaport. The vessel Michael Kors docked at Pier 17 on the final day of Fashion Week was the sort that comes before any impending calamity. The jaunty, free-spirited global getaway that was the Michael Kors Collection Spring 2019 runway show was never going to concern itself with fuel shortages, famine, or high seas piracy nor frankly should it ever. This after all is Michael Kors, a man of indefatigable optimism, genuine, unencumbered happiness. All of this came through in this colorful collection, Korsian in its embrace of the spring season. Reproductions of works by Australian artist Christina Zimpel filled out the expansive fourth floor of the pier, which peeked out to foggy views of the Brooklyn Bridge and lower harbor. On the morning nine models from across the Next global network featured in the lineup including Binx Walton, Cara Taylor, Piero Mendez, Tang He, Lineisy Montero, Hiandra Martinez, Selena Forrest, Grace Elizabeth, and Erik van Gils. That is all from New York, coverage resumes from London later this week. Ta.
