LONDON — There could have been no more fitting an entry to London Fashion Week Saturday morning than in the arrivals hall that was the, erm, point of departure for Alexa Chung’s Spring 2019 ALEXACHUNG collection. The third collection of her signature line christened Arrivals and Departures marked Alexa’s London debut after showing her first two in Paris. The controlling theme for Spring 2019 was not so much travel as the terminal zones connecting vectors of travel. Think airports, think business lounges from a half century ago, these are the places that animate and inform this collection, which itself was an amalgam of swimwear, pyjamas, double-breasted jackets, and denim. What would be a dangerous mix in almost anyone’s hands, proved anything but for Alexa, who after all has built an immensely successful career curating, editing, mixing, DJing, and slashing. On the morning, five models from across the Next global network including Manu Miloqui, Tessa Bruinsma, Aiden Curtiss, Danielle Lashley, and Liza Ostanina featured in the lineup.
