LONDON — Saturday is market day in many regions of the world and so too it was for designer Molly Goddard for her Spring / Summer 2019 runway show in Covent Garden. In May of this year Goddard was awarded the British Fashion Council / Vogue Designer Fashion Fund, which in addition to £200,000 and a year-long mentoring scheme, comes attention and prestige. That much was evident Saturday afternoon and Goddard did not disappoint. Enlisting the inspired set design of Sarah Edwards, the runway was staged to resemble an open air market, replete with selling stalls, and ample stacks of fruit and veg crates. The collection itself thirsted for the freedoms that often accompany sunshine and cerveza. On the afternoon three models from across the Next global network featured in the runway lineup including Aiden Curtiss, Alanna Arrington, and Lily McMenamy.
