In early May of this year Prada touched down in New York for a rare runway engagement this side of the Atlantic. The special occasion was of course a product of the resort calendar, a geographical quirk of which often sees houses travel the globe to showcase their seasonal wares. In May, Prada made inspired use of the historic Piano Factory in Hell’s Kitchen, site of its Prada USA headquarters, for the Resort 2019 runway show. Two girls from that lineup, Lineisy Montero and Anok Yai, some 172 days later have gone on to feature in the corresponding advertising campaign by Willy Vanderperre. “These images are both forward-thinking and backwards-glancing, retro and futuristic,” says here. The colors, the styling, both look back, both jolt forward. At the center of the campaign are Lineisy and Anok, Prada royalty at this point. “Amidst this unreal dreamscape, both these figures and their clothes are arresting in their actuality.” True that, true that.
