NEW YORK —“You dance on Broadway, party at Studio 54, and everywhere you go the cameras follow you.” This was the guiding principle behind the Michael Kors Collection Fall 2019 runway show Wednesday morning, executed with aplomb by a lineup that included nine models from across the Next global network including Selena Forrest, Anok Yai, Marjan Jonkman, Callum Stoddart, Maria Miguel, Lineisy Montero, Hiandra Martinez, Cara Taylor, and Binx Walton. Channeling the early morning enthusiasm required for a Michael Kors show at first blush might seem a tall order, but professional models do this on the regular. What was different this Wednesday morning at Cipriani Wall Street was the presence of Barry Manilow. Sure, not many models in the lineup were even alive with the singer songwriter was at his peak, but even in the glittering twilight of his career Manilow is capable of rousing a crowd. That much was true for this occasion and the models duly answered in kind. Who could ask for more?
