There is life yet. News coming out of Calvin Klein last week announced the American luxury fashion house’s exit from the Collection business. This is but the latest ripple in the not-so-infinite pool of American fashion following the departure of Raf Simons from the label in late December of last year and the subsequent shuttering of the 205W39NYC business. Away from the headlines, however Calvin Klein has wasted no time in getting back to its core business of selling clothing bearing its label. To that end, the better sportswear Spring 2019 advertising campaign starring Justin Eric Martin is doing the rounds. Photographed by Lachlan Bailey and styled by George Cortina, the campaign features hot air balloons at the point lift-off. Envelopes containing heated air is an apt metaphor for the house and model. Rising high up in the sky, the Justin Eric Martin and Calvin Klein together scale the heights in this campaign, thereby leaving behind all terrestrial concerns and other mundanities.
