Think of any color and there is surely history behind it. Some shades more than others and in the case of pink, plenty. The April 2019 issue of Vogue takes a deep dive (873 words) into the color pink in a beauty feature for which rising star Ugbad Abdi is the face. Photographed by Tyler Mitchell and styled by Carlos Nazario, the two-page feature pictures Ugbad wearing a floral headpiece by Joshua Werber. To be sure, pink is multifaceted, a fact explored in detail by Vogue contributor Jessica Bennett. “I have never been much into pink,” she admits, but goes on to reveal more than a passing preoccupation with it. Whatever the verdict, one thing is clear, seeing Ugbad in the pages of American Vogue ought marshal even the most strident critics in support of all things pink.
