Rightly or wrongly menswear plays much of a supporting role in fashion. Nevertheless, men’s fashion persists and when done well can be something to truly appreciate. The Spring 2019 issue of American L’Officiel carries in it is a menswear story that draws inspiration from Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar and feature’s Next New York’s own Damien Medina. Photographed by Anthony Maule and styled by Julian Antetomaso, the story includes a half dozen looks, much of which are worn by Damien. Take for instance the classical figure Damien standing over a downed bicycle and wearing a sweater, shirt, and short by Kenneth Nicholson, Prada shoes, and finished with a Christian Louboutin belt. Menswear can sometimes devolve into caricature, but that is not the case with this feature or for that matter the lad wearing the clothes.
