The world, right? It is all a bit extra these days, which makes occasions like today’s all the more sumptuous. This weekend’s over of Sunday Times Style belongs to none other than Ugbad Abdi. Scrolling through the Instagram feed this morning it would have been impossible to miss this breathtaking cover by photographer Giampaolo Sgura and stylist Verity Parker. In the words of the Style’s Fashion Director Jane McFarland, “No words!” It’s true, little more in the way of words, sentiments, or ideas could be added to this cover to make this any more expressive than it already is. Think back to January, when the spotlight first locked on Ugbad walking the runway for Valentino and 79 days later she claims her first ever cover and of course it’s a stunner. This cover of hers feels as groundbreaking as her couture runway appearance, but then again this could be said of anything Ugbad does. There is just something about Ugbad that makes people lose it and her ability to do this is only intensifying. “Meet Ugbad Abdi, the Muslim supermodel making fashion history,” readers surely cannot wait for opportunity and neither can this page.
