The antecedents of modern color theory stretch back to the 15th century and even as deep as the notebooks of Leonardo da Vinci. Keeping straight the principles of additive versus subtractive color mixing or for that matter any other esoteric practices that could not be more easily described using a 64-count box of Crayola crayons is frankly surplus to what is required to appreciate this next story running in the May 2019 issue of Vogue España starring Danielle Lashley. “Teoría del Color,” as this story by London-based photography duo Krzysztof Frankiewicz and Aleksandra Rożniata is called celebrates some of the more colorful looks for spring, which especially pop when paired with the sort of jewelry that requires its own security detail. Case in point appears on page 53 (pictured) in which Danielle wears a tulle dress by Carolina Herrera and a Divas’ Dream necklace by Bvlgari in rose gold with amethysts, tourmalines, pink rubellites, pink sapphires, and diamonds. Truth told, Danielle could wear just about anything with that necklace and she would be the brightest thing in the room. Color theory at this point can all but be tossed out the window, when Danielle is on the page awe is the most appropriate response.
