Fashion is not unlike twice daily tides, wait a while and whatever has gone out inevitably will come back in. The May 2019 issue of Vogue Italia, the edition readers will remember bearing Anok on the cover photographed by Steven Klein, carries a front-of-book feature starring Claudia Lavender that quite literally illustrates this tidal dynamic at work this season and also on the shores of Broadstairs, England. Photographed by Henrique Gendre and styled by Renata Correa, the shoot on Viking Bay at low tide celebrates a riviera where stripes, straw bags, and wide-brimmed hats rule. Woven straw bags are central to this exercise on the sands, in fact Claudia (pictured) holds no fewer than four examples by Coccinelle, Hermès, Loewe, and Furla whilst wearing a black dress by David Koma and hat from Lock & Co. Hatters. Lovely, really, buoyant enough to launch a fleet of vessels out to sea.
