As one of the Low Countries of Northwestern Europe, Belgium has its fair share of rivers and tributaries. The movement of water in this region bordering the North Sea occupies a unique place in the Belgian imagination. The peasants depicted in oil paintings by Pieter Bruegel the Elder in the 16th century after all are engaged in various wintry activities atop frozen lakes and rivers. No surprise, then that water is also central to the newly released cover of Dust Nº15 by Belgian photographer Willy Vanderperre starring rising Dutch model Maud Hoevelaken. Shot in Belgium, the cover depicts shoeless Maud & co fording a stream dressed in Vetements. Maud also wears a bunny rabbit mask and carries a cross fashioned out of two fallen branches. It is an arresting image shot in the cold light of day, just the sort of thing to come out of the Vanderperre oeuvre.
